Job summary

Stantec in the United States seeks an HSSE Coordinator to implement the Health, Safety, Security and Environment program within the Environmental Services Business Operating Unit, based in a major US office in the Central or South region. The role reports to the Business Line HSSE Manager and reflects the geography's requirements.

This full-time position requires up to 20% travel, field site work, and collaboration with project teams to deliver safe projects and drive continuous HSSE improvement

Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety profession.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is considered an asset but is not required.
• Experience providing safety support for remedial construction or field services focused organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation of HSSE procedures to deliver safe projects.
• Independently solve complex HSSE problems within operational control.
• Support remedial construction, environmental restoration, and cultural service areas.
• Track incidents, identify preventive and corrective actions, and share lessons learned.
• Lead process improvements aligned with strategic goals.
• Coach and advise leadership on HSSE as it relates to services.
• Help operations use HSSE systems, including program manual and OHS management system.
• Provide technical assistance for pre-job planning and hazard assessments.
• Conduct field assessments, job observations, and site inspections (incl. overnight travel if needed).
• Promote HSSE culture and continuous improvement in responsibility area.
