Brown & Root Industrial Services in Houston, TX invites applications for an HSE Technician to support field safety observations and contractor oversight in the chemical sector. The role requires strong compliance knowledge, risk assessment, and the ability to coordinate safety training with multiple contractors while promoting safe work practices on site.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site safety walks and audits and provide corrective advice.
• Identify hazardous conditions and propose corrective actions to eliminate risks.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local laws and company safety policies.
• Assist with safety training for employee orientation and contractor onboarding.
• Summarize incident data and drive improvements in safety practices.

This position is responsible for field observations, to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with multiple contractors in the chemical industry.

• Make job walks and get familiar with the units you will be working in. Learn the equipment, etc.
• Ensure that federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed by contractors.
• Assist, with plan to implement move in/out contractor safety training for employee orientation programs.
• Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the client’s workplace during on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
• Participate in the safety observation program, submit feedback and assure documents are begin submitted and tracked accordingly.
• Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret incident report data to develop corrective actions to eliminate risk. Assure compliance to company safety policy handbook and site-specific policies.
• Participate in safety walks & audits, provide positive correction advice to employees working at risk.
• Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed.
• Any other duties deemed necessary in alignment with business & departmental needs.
• Possess a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous process improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety
• Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
• Excellent communication skills up and down organizational structure
• Strong planning, organizational and follow up skills
• Bilingual is plus
• Excellent people and process management skills
