About The Role:

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that our organization adheres to all safety regulations and environmental standards. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE policies and procedures that promote a safe and healthy work environment based in Sonora, TX. The HSE Specialist will conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. Further, the HSE Specialist will perform some regulatory tasks including report filing for the respective area.

General Description:

  • Develop and implement corporate and local strategies regarding health, safety, and environmental support to our Sonora, Texas exploration and production operations.
  • Provides advice/coordination, and technical support to HSE team and Operations.
  • Responsibility for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE management systems.
  • Environment role includes responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental programs/processes .
  • Prepares and maintains safety, health, and environmental documents and records.
  • Responsible for the following: engine testing coordination, air permit data gathering and tracking, permits, regulatory notices, incident response, incident investigation, OSHA training, training progress, training materials and presentations, maintaining chemical inventories (Tier II), and certain types of RRC and TCEQ regulatory reporting.
  • Good working knowledge of both state and federal OSHA/state regulations and state/federal permitting requirements.
  • Good understanding of Workman Comp processes and requirements.
  • Professional judgment is required in planning and performing assignments.
  • Receives ongoing development in the area(s) of safety, health, environmental, and regulatory specialties
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Four-year college degree but not required

Working Conditions and Requirements

  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle and be comfortable with traveling on lease roads, highways, etc. day or night and at times under adverse weather conditions
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when necessary
  • Work environment to consist of a mixture of office and field activities
