HSE SPECIALIST



JOB SUMMARY


The HSE Specialist is a functional expert and will provide safety leadership to all parties to ensure adherence to OSHA, DOT, and client requirements.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Provide safety leadership to management and employees to include OSHA standards and compliance strategies, DOT Compliance Requirements and Client's policies and standards.

  • Performs tasks in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with the organization's EH&S standards and with federal and state regulatory requirements.

  • Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of programs, systems and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community.

  • Assists in monitoring and preventing chemical, physical and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the work area.

  • Works with others to investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the work place.

  • Participates in recommending improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize the hazardous potential.

  • Ensures HSE excellence through training, involvement in behavior based programs, auditing of management and safety systems, rig inspections, gathering and trending leading and trailing indicators, and participation in the incident investigation & reporting processes.

  • Be a functional expert in most health, safety, and environmental disciplines.

  • Provides guidance, regulatory interpretation, and assists with procedure development for a variety of HSE issues.

  • Able to apply knowledge and experience to complex problems and develop recommendations.

  • Makes decisions within broad parameters.

  • Acts as an informal resource for others with less experience.

  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE



  • 5-7 years of related work experience

  • Has a strong understanding of discipline

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE


While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:



  • Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy.

  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.

  • Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.

  • Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam

  • Required to complete and successfully pass a background check.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.


The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.
