Job summary

Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. seeks an HSE Specialist to support HSE programs across multiple plants, labs, farms, and offices. You will lead assessments, coordinate regulatory programs, and help develop procedures and training to reduce risks.

The role requires a BS in Safety/related field, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to travel up to 50% to support sites. Collaboration across teams is essential to advance safety and compliance.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Safety, Science, Engineering, or HSE-related discipline.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA and related regulations.
  • Able to recognize, evaluate and recommend controls for workplace hazards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience presenting to large groups.

Responsibilities

  • Lead periodic HSE assessments of facilities to identify hazards and gaps.
  • Coordinate programs for medical monitoring, incident management and tracking.
  • Lead HSE programs at locations with training, support and coaching.
  • Support development of HSE procedures and corporate initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training content for employees.
  • Support Process Safety Management program.
  • Assist analysis of regulatory standards to ensure compliance.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Participate in Central Reporting Group and present topics at meetings.
  • Support resolution of complex problems beyond existing procedures.
  • Assist environmental reporting (Tier II, TRI, Hazardous Waste, etc.).
  • Develop environmental and safety plans (ERP, SWPPP, SPCC, RMP).

As a Health Safety Environmental (HSE) Specialist at Tessenderlo Kerley, you willbe responsible forsupporting HSE programs foraportionof TKI’s 19chemical manufacturing plants, laboratories,farms,fabricationshop,and the Corporate Office.

  • Lead periodic HSE assessments of facilities to identify workplace hazards and procedural gaps, support efforts that ensure regulatory compliance, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate programs associated with occupational medical monitoring, PureOHS, Red Vector, incident management, action item tracking.
  • Help lead HSE programs at assigned locations by providing in person training, support and coaching.
  • Support preparation of HSE procedures and corporate-wide HSE initiatives to reduce operational risks.
  • Support development and delivery of HSE training content to employees.
  • Support Process Safety Management program.
  • Assist analysis of current and proposed government regulatory standards (OSHA, DOT, EPA and other entities) to ensure compliance and possible implications to the business.
  • Support incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Serve as a member of the Central Reporting Group, present topics at monthly meetings.
  • Support resolution of complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices.
  • Support completion of environmental reports (Tier II, TRI, Hazardous Waste, Pollution Prevention, Air Emission Inventories, TSCA).
  • Environmental & safety plan development (ERP, SWPPP, SPCC, Site Security Plants, RMP).
Profile
  • BS degree in Safety, Science, Engineering, or HSE-related discipline and 0 – 10 years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze regulations and assist operating facilities with compliance strategies.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and NFPA regulations, applicable state requirements, and industry standards.
  • Able to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience presenting to large groups of people.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with managing multiple projects and tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%.
