Job summary

The Walsh Group is seeking an HSE Specialist for our Data Center Group in Mount Pleasant, WI. This role coordinates, implements, and monitors health, safety, and environmental processes across project locations.

Key duties include conducting EHS assessments, training personnel, coordinating EHS protocols with subcontractors, and leading incident investigations. The ideal candidate will have relevant safety certifications and experience in construction safety, with some travel required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher preferred; degree/education noted.
• CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) certification preferred.
• <3 years of construction safety experience preferred; some travel required.
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs or ladders.
• OSHA 30-hour certification preferred; First Aid/CPR AED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Periodically conducts comprehensive EHS assessments and recommends corrective actions.
• Provides training on EHS requirements and updates materials accordingly.
• Coordinates subcontractor EHS protocols and aligns project EHS programs with subcontractors.
• Conducts incident investigations and completes detailed reporting for management review.
• Establishes hospital and clinical care facilities for each project site.
• Accompanies injured employees to treatment and ensures EHS protocols are followed.
• Advises on Industrial Hygiene protocols and performs Environmental Monitoring.
• Manages the Drug-Free Workplace Policy and required drug testing processes.
• Leads orientation for project employees on EHS practices and procedures.
• Provides weekly safety updates to EHS leadership.
• Administers the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.

The HSE Specialist coordinates, implements and monitors all aspects of the health, safety and environmental (EHS) processes at various project locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Periodically conducts comprehensive EHS assessments. Recommends to project management corrective measures for unsafe conditions.

• Provides training and education to Company personnel regarding EHS requirements and recommends advancements to materials.

• Assists project management in the coordination of subcontractor EHS protocols, vendor and owner personnel working on company project. Coordinates project EHS programs with subcontractors. Assists in planning and coordinating work to minimize risks, and aggressively manage losses involving injuries or property damages.

• Conducts accident investigations and completes incident reporting for Project Management review.

• Establishes hospital and clinical care facilities for each project.

• Accompanies injured employees to treatment and medical evaluation. Ensures all EHS protocols are followed.

• Advises Project Management on Industrial Hygiene protocols; performs Environmental Monitoring.

• Administers the Company's Drug-Free Workplace Policy, ensuring proper testing for Pre-Employment, Vehicle Authorization, Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Random, and Follow-Up.

• Facilitates orientation of all project employees to the EHS practices required by the Company.

• Provides a weekly safety update to EHS Leadership.

• Administers the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma, Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred

• CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification preferred

• Less than 3 years of experience in the construction safety field

• Some travel required

• Required to stand, walk, sit and climb stairs or ladders

• OSHA 30 hour preferred

• First Aid, CPR AED preferred
