Job summary

NOV in Midland, TX is seeking an HSE Specialist to lead Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives across our Artificial Lift operations in the Permian/Delaware Basin. You will partner with field operations and leadership to drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a proactive safety culture.

This onsite role requires experience with OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations, incident investigations, HSE training development, risk assessments and detailed reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or certified training in HSE field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of HSE experience required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations and industry standards (NFPA, ASME, ANSI, etc.).
  • Oilfield safety experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and presentation skills required.
  • First aid, CPR and AED trainer preferred.
  • Good analysis and reporting skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills; ability to work with Microsoft products.
  • Spanish bi-lingual preferred.

  • Prepare applicable HSE reports.
  • Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to facility management.
  • Participate in incident investigations and promote incident prevention.
  • Assist in development and delivery of HSE trainings.
  • Observe HSE regulations and ensure proper use of PPE; report hazards.
  • Comply with NOV policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain safety programs to meet requirements and regulatory needs.
  • Establish relationships with safety and environmental agencies for regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure training and development for employees in safe work practices.
  • Monitor corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate waste handling and disposal with approved vendors and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation through external contacts.

Job Description

The HSE Specialist is responsible for leading Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives that support safe and compliant operations across NOV's Artificial Lift business in the Permian/Delaware Basin. This role partners with field operations and leadership to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance, ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and company requirements, promote a proactive safety culture, and foster a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Responsibilities

Work Location: This position is onsite and is based at NOV's Midland facility located at 10810 W County Rd 77, Midland, TX, USA. Regular, in-person attendance is required to effectively perform the essential functions of this role.

  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety, and Environmental management
  • Maintain relevant HSE Logs
  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations
  • Prepare applicable HSE reports
  • Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and promote incident prevention
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE Trainings
  • Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately and reports them to the proper personnel
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures
  • Assist in formulating, implementing, maintaining basic policies and programs, and techniques necessary to achieve company goals and regulatory requirements related to safety and environmental issues
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with safety and environmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulatory issues
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with department managers and supervisors to provide for and ensure that employees receive training and development in promoting a safe and healthy working environment
  • Recognize potential HSE issues and monitor corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Locate, consolidate, label and store waste in accordance with governmental regulations, coordinate waste removal and disposal with qualified waste haulers and disposal sites as well as all relevant documentation
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current legislation by contact with external organizations and bodies in order to be familiar with new development in HSE
  • Maintain an excellent driving record
  • Perform audits on field locations
  • Perform other work-related task as assigned
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS

Multi-facility oversight and site visits may be required. Regular customer meetings and field site visits are an essential part of this role. Frequent travel to customer locations is required to support operations, ensure HSE compliance, and build strong customer relationships.
