Summary

At Advanced Accelerator Applications, a Novartis company, we are committed to leading innovation in nuclear medicine and delivering the next generation of targeted radioligand therapy to cancer patients. We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) professional to help us reach our ambitious goals.

As the HSE Specialist, you will be a member of the Carlsbad HSE Team supporting our Carlsbad site, including a Radioligand Therapy (RLT) drug manufacturing plant. Your responsibilities will evolve as the site grows, develops, and matures.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Keep track of legislation and regulations regarding Health, Safety, and Environment.
  2. Provide technical expertise, assistance, and oversight for the HSE programs at the campus, including radiation safety, occupational safety, and environmental compliance.
  3. Identify, assess, and document HSE risks to employees and third parties, recommend protective measures in collaboration with the site HSE Head.
  4. Coordinate or introduce necessary HSE measurements and monitor the implementation of protective measures.
  5. Assist the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) at the manufacturing plant by serving as an Authorized User and backup to the RSO, performing radiation surveys, radioactive waste management, and spill/contamination response.
  6. Support and/or conduct incident investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  7. Ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory compliance standards for HSE, including Radiation Safety.
Essential Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, health and safety, engineering, or related field, or a minimum of 4 additional years of relevant experience.
  2. 3+ years of relevant experience in a Health and Safety role.
  3. Experience building an injury and error-free culture with knowledge of US compliance areas (EPA, OSHA, NRC, etc.).
  4. Hazardous Waste Management experience.
Desirable Requirements:
  1. Experience in a cGMP environment.
  2. Prior experience or training in radiation safety.

The salary range is expected to be between $89,600 and $166,400 per year, subject to adjustments based on market, location, experience, and other factors. The total package may include bonuses, stock units, and other benefits, including medical, financial, and paid time off. Details will be provided if you receive an offer.
