Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking an HSE Project Specialist to support Health, Safety and Environment activities across project execution. You will partner with project and site teams to ensure safe, compliant work and effective risk management on site.

You will conduct site visits, audits, training, incident analysis, and support ISO 14001 and 45001 audits; travel about 30% to project sites, coordinating with subcontractors and management to build a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental health, occupational safety, or related discipline.
• 4+ years of professional HSE experience.
• Experience supporting HSE activities in construction, project, industrial, or field-based environments.
• Ability to identify workplace hazards and support risk mitigation, with collaborative work across project teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project management to review scopes, tenders, HSE plans, and subcontractor qualifications.
• Serve as HSE focal point for site, project, and management teams during routine execution and issue resolution.
• Monitor project sites and support site managers in maintaining HSE compliance with subcontractors.
• Identify and assess occupational hazards and develop appropriate controls to minimize risk.
• Provide HSE guidance, training, and support to management and workforce to achieve HSE objectives and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct site visits and audits, evaluate HSE process effectiveness, identify gaps, and support corrective actions.
• Promote HSE best practices and continuous improvement to build a strong safety culture.
• Lead incident analysis, root-cause investigations, and development of corrective actions.
• Maintain required HSE documentation and present routine progress reports.
• Stay current on regulatory developments affecting HSE responsibilities.
• Represent HSE with current and prospective customers and support audits (ISO 14001/45001).
