Job description

We are currently seeking a HSE Manager for our Training Squadron Support Facility project at Langley AFB in Hampton, VA.

The HSE Manager assists with inspections, accident investigations, conducts safety meetings, and the overall implementation of the health, safety, and environmental (EHS) processes. The HSE Manager shall be responsible for compiling and maintaining necessary records, logs, and other reports pertaining to safety required by the contractor, client, Federal, State, and Local regulations.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement an effective site-specific EHS plan in collaboration with the Project Manager and management team, adhering to all corporate, divisional, and regional EHS programs and processes.
  2. Assist Project Managers and EHS Managers/Specialists in coordinating subcontractor EHS protocols, including vendors and owner personnel.
  3. Coordinate project EHS programs with subcontractors and plan work to eliminate hazards, minimize risks, and manage losses involving injuries or property damages.
  4. Conduct quarterly comprehensive on-site EHS audits, inspecting and evaluating the project site, equipment, and processes for compliance with regulations and policies.
  5. Conduct accident investigations and complete incident reports for review.
  6. Accompany injured employees to medical treatment and ensure all EHS protocols are followed.
  7. Manage the Company’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy, including testing procedures for various scenarios.
  8. Provide EHS training and education to personnel, including new hire orientation programs.
  9. Administer the corporate SPAT process on assigned projects.
  10. Provide weekly EHS updates to EHS Leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • CHST (Construction Health & Safety Technician) Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction EHS.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to prioritize and organize.
  • Knowledge of regulations, hazard recognition, and injury management.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and climb stairs or ladders.
