Job summary

Babcock International is seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to lead a team of HSE Advisors across our Mission Technologies business. The role focuses on embedding a proactive safety culture, guiding strategic safety decisions and improving health, safety and environmental performance, with opportunities for career growth within a global engineering and technology organisation.

Job description

As a HSE Manager, you'll play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and embedding a proactive safety culture across our Mission Technologies business. This is an exciting opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, lead a team of specialist advisors, and drive continuous improvement across health, safety and environmental performance. You'll provide expert guidance to stakeholders across the organisation, helping ensure our people can perform critical work safely and responsibly while supporting projects that contribute to national security and defence capability. Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

• Lead and developing a team of Health, Safety and Environmental Advisors.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on health, safety and environmental matters.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance, safety performance and environmental standards.
• Conduct and overseeing audits, inspections, incident investigations and risk reduction activities.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators and industry bodies to promote best practice.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days onsite and days working from home. There will be some travel to other Babcock sites when required.

Essential experience of the HSE Manager

• Proven experience in a senior Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE/EHS)
• Experience leading, developing and managing teams of HSE/EHS professionals.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, compliance requirements and best practice.
• Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance.

Qualifications for the HSE Manager

• NEEBOSH level 5 or equivalent

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Must be Sole British National as potential for Developed Vetting (DV) in the future.
