Job summary

H&MV Engineering seeks an experienced HSE Specialist to manage project-specific safety and health programs, ensuring OSHA CFR 1926 compliance and safeguarding workers and the public.

You will coordinate with project teams, conduct site inductions, maintain safety documentation, and lead safety audits while developing risk assessments and training for contractors on diverse high-voltage, renewable energy projects in the US.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry.
• OSHA 30-hour construction industry course.
• Crane and rigging knowledge; electrical and civil construction experience preferred.
• Understanding of OSHA CFR 1926 and the ability to enforce applicable regulations.
• Competency in fall protection, scaffolding, confined space, steel erection, silica exposure and crane activities.
• Electrical safety and LOTO requirements.
• Understanding of mobile equipment operations and required operational skills.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Participates in safety pre-planning and hazard analysis for upcoming work activities.
• Coordinates with project superintendents and project team members in the review of project schedules.
• Attend pre-planning meetings, subcontractor pre-construction meetings, and coordination meetings as required.
• Conducts Site Specific Safety Orientation for all employees and contracts partners upon of arrival on site.
• Maintain employee and sub-contractor’s employee required safety documentation.
• Ensure contractors complete daily Safe Work Plans, and Permits and review them with work crews before starting work activities.
• Administer record-keeping and reporting guidelines as required by regulatory agencies, client-specific requirements, and company policies.
• Assist in the development of Risk Assessments for all contract partners.
• Conduct documented daily/weekly safety audits identifying and documenting deficiencies, corrective measures, and recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
• Establish follow-up procedures for ensuring all items identified are corrected in a timely fashion.
• Conduct weekly All Hands Safety Meetings.
• Conducts accident, incident, and near-miss investigations.
• Provide necessary training/coaching when at-risk observations are observed.
• Supports the project management team in their efforts to maintain a safe and healthful workplace.
• Issue hot work, trenching/excavation, and confined space permits as necessary.
• Accompanies any safety inspections for authorized outside entities.
• Record and analyses information on first aid cases, near misses, injuries, damages and losses and review HSE performance.
• Conduct the HSE induction training for employees and subcontractor staff on-site

Role Overview

This HSE Speciallist position manages project-specific safety and health program to ensure compliance and the well-being of our client’s employees, contract partner employees, client personnel, and the general public. They will evaluate and coordinate project activities to comply with the rules and regulations set forth by OSHA CFR 1926, company policies and procedures, and site-specific rules and regulations applicable to project safety.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
