Mondelēz International in Richmond, VA seeks an experienced HSE Lead to advance Health, Safety & Environment performance on a busy bakery floor. You will partner with site leadership to execute strategies, coach teams, and strengthen the HSE culture across operations.

This role focuses on risk reduction, incident investigations, and continuous improvement of the HSE system. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in safety or related field and 5+ years of manufacturing HSE experience, with OSHA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in safety/related field.
• 5+ years HSE experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and HSE regulatory requirements.
• Experience with incident investigations and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Partner with HSE Manager and site leadership to execute strategy and improvements.
• Drive proactive HSE culture through risk awareness and accountability.
• Provide day-to-day HSE leadership and coaching across operations.
• Maintain floor presence to identify risks and coach workers on controls.
• Support implementation and improvement of HSE management system.
• Serve as HSE Champion for assigned standards with technical guidance.
• Lead and support incident investigations and RCA with corrective actions.
• Facilitate risk assessments and apply hierarchy of controls.
• Offer guidance on machine safety, LOTO, contractor safety, ergonomics, hazmat, VGVs.
• Provide HSE input for equipment mods, projects, and MOC activities.
• Use data and audits to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Participate in audits, assessments, inspections, training, and drills.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and others to embed HSE.
• Support IL6S journey by integrating HSE into daily management.
• Coach HSE team members and ensure continuity when manager unavailable.

Make It With Pride.The HSE Lead plays a key role in advancing Health, Safety & Environment performance at the Richmond Bakery by providing technical expertise, leadership, coaching, and support across a complex manufacturing environment.This role partners with site leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen HSE culture, manage risk, improve the HSE Management System, and ensure compliance with company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.The HSE Lead will maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor while partnering with leaders to integrate HSE into daily operations and continuous improvement.How you will contributeYou will:Partner with the HSE Manager and site leadership to execute HSE strategy, priorities, and continuous improvement plans.Drive a proactive HSE culture by strengthening risk awareness, leadership accountability, employee engagement, and ownership across the organization.Provide day-to-day HSE leadership, technical guidance, and coaching across manufacturing operations.Maintain strong floor presence to understand work processes, identify risk, verify controls, and coach employees and leaders.Support implementation and continuous improvement of the site’s HSE Management System and assigned HSE standards.Partner with Standard Owners and serve as HSE Champion for assigned standards, providing technical expertise, coaching, verification, and support.Lead and support incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained.Facilitate risk assessments and promote effective application of the hierarchy of controls.Provide technical guidance on manufacturing HSE risks including machine safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), contractor safety, ergonomics, hazardous materials, and powered industrial vehicles.Provide HSE expertise for equipment modifications, projects, and Management of Change (MOC) activities.Use HSE data, incidents, observations, and audit findings to identify trends, recurring risks, and continuous improvement opportunities.Participate in audits, assessments, inspections, training, and emergency preparedness activities.Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Sanitation, Human Resources, and other functions to integrate HSE into operational decision-making.Support the site’s Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) journey by integrating HSE into daily management, problem solving, and continuous improvement.Coach and support HSE team members and provide HSE leadership continuity when the HSE Manager is unavailable.What you will bringA desire to drive your future and accelerate your career.
