Job summary

The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School is seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of High School Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the coach will lead practice planning, game strategy, and player development while upholding district policies and sportsmanship values.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the athletic department, maintaining records, ensuring safety, and promoting community support for athletics.

Qualifications

• Successful coaching experience preferred.
• CPR, AFEP Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid Courses or equivalent (may be taken within first year).
• At least 20 years of age.
• Must be approved by the Oxford Hills School District and comply with MPA By-Laws, policies and ethics.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor high school athletes, promoting skill development and sportsmanship.
• Plan and schedule regular practices; coordinate with Athletic Director for contests.
• Recommend equipment purchases and maintain attendance and insurance records.
• Ensure facility safety and establish eligibility criteria; enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior.

The Oxford Hills School District (MSAD 17) comprises the towns of Norway , South Paris , West Paris , Oxford , Waterford, Harrison , Hebron and Otisfield. MSAD 17 shares vocational resources and accepts students in its Oxford Hills Technical School programs from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner. Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful coaching experience preferred

• Must sign a statement stating that he/she has read and understands and agrees to comply with all MPA By-Laws, policies and Code of Ethics.

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director

JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports the District's mission and goals.
• Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and/or interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniform, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Works closely with middle school, junior varsity and freshman programs, as appropriate and/or makes suggestions that benefit athletes at all times.
• Attends lectures, rules interpretations and clinics to keep abreast of changes and methods that would improve the program.
• Meets with parents, the news media, booster groups and youth organizations to improve public relations and encourages support for the sport and other athletic activities.
• Carries out procedures for the prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries.
• Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Athletic Director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One year position. See current Agreement Between the MSAD#17 Board of Directors and the Oxford Hills Education Association.
