High School Teacher - CTE (Career and Technical Education), Fire Science, (.5 FTE) Part-Time, Permanent, 2025-2026 School Year

Must have 2,000 or more hours of experience in the firefighting and/or the fire service industry.

This position is anticipated to teach either Day 1 or Day 2 on a high school schedule, two periods every other day for the 2025-2026 School Year.

Hours: 7:30am - 3:30pm every other day.

Position Summary

The employee is primarily responsible for effective teaching and learning of the assigned subject(s) following district approved curriculum, instruction and assessment practices. Primary responsibility shall include student safety and appropriate collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare. Employee may teach in a variety of elementary and/or secondary educational, individual or team teaching settings.

Sabin-Schellenberg Professional Technical Center is seeking a part-time teacher to join our Fire Science program. Teach students the history of fire science, fire safety and health practices, fire department communication protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, building construction and fire behavior, fire control techniques, fire prevention strategies, and basic emergency medical care. Instruct students in practical skills including taking a hydrant, pulling hose, tying knots, and raising ladders.

License Requirement

Must hold or be able to obtain Oregon Educator licensure with a Subject Matter Endorsement specific to the content area taught in this position (i.e. must hold biology endorsement if teaching biology).

Job Group: Licensed Wage Placement Table

Salary

  • Annual Salary Range (2025-2026): $58,788- $111,463 (193-Day Contract). Initial placement based on education, experience.
  • This salary range reflects 1.0 FTE. Actual salary is prorated based on FTE and start date.
  • Stipend(s) are pro-rated based on 1.0 FTE and start/end dates of position/assignment.
  • As a licensed employee, you are eligible to receive:
    • A stipend of $2,500 if certified by NBPTS (National Board for Professional Teaching Standards).
    • A stipend of $3,000 if you hold a PhD or EdD.
Retirement Contribution

North Clackamas School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. The district contributes the employer portion; there is also a mandatory employee portion. Upon eligibility, which is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position, the employee is required to contribute 6% as their employee portion, via payroll deduction. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have 2,000 or more hours of experience in the firefighting and/or the fire service industry.
  • Must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
  • Possess or able to obtain Oregon licensure with a Subject Matter Endorsement (for secondary teaching positions).
  • Successful completion of a teacher certification program at an accredited college or university, and valid state certification(s) and/or endorsement(s).
  • Must be eligible to obtain Oregon CTE teaching license: CTE Restricted or Preliminary License with Legal and Protective Services or Public Services Endorsement.
  • Evidence of continuous professional learning and a commitment to participate in professional growth opportunities and self-reflection on professional practice.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge for subjects/levels being taught.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with parents, students, and staff.
  • Commitment to effective collaboration and teaming within a professional learning community.
  • Skill in classroom management and ability to achieve, support, and maintain acceptable student behavior.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use appropriate and multiple assessment, instruction, and evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and ability to apply that knowledge to the selection and application of curriculum materials and instructional practices.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of strategies necessary to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Knowledge and skill in culturally responsive teaching and learning.
  • Skill and ability to utilize technology to aid instruction, assessment and learning.
  • Any position specific special qualifications indicated in the recruitment process.

  • A background in teaching Career Technical Education.
