Challenge Preparatory Charter School in Far Rockaway, NY seeks an Earth Science Teacher to guide students through geology, environment, and matter, with lab-based instruction and engaging lessons.

The Earth Science Teacher will design daily lessons, maintain safety in labs, assess coursework, and collaborate with the leadership team to align with CPCS standards.

This is a full-time position with salary range $62,000–$95,000, commensurate with NYS certification and teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• NYS Certification in the appropriate content area.
• Dual licensed preferred; content area and ESL or Special Education.
• Two years of teaching experience in an urban school setting preferred.
• Ability to create a classroom where students of all levels are engaged and challenged.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

• Commitment to closing the achievement gap in underserved communities.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and supervise weekly laboratory experiments relevant to the current lessons being taught in class.
• Ensure students understand and follow safety rules for laboratory experiments.
• Assign and evaluate coursework, submit grades, and communicate with parents regarding student performance.
• Prepare students for state exams and meet school goals for student competency.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences and provide detailed evaluations.
