Job summary

Ledcor Construction, Inc. is seeking an HS&E professional to support safety programs across multiple heavy civil projects in the United States. You will conduct hazard assessments, provide on-site guidance, and lead incident investigations.

This role requires 2+ years in construction/heavy civil, OSHA training, and strong communication skills. Expect extensive travel to sites, compliance with 29 CFR 1926, and collaboration with operations teams to improve safety performance.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of HS&E experience in construction, heavy civil, or telecom.
  • OSHA 10/30 certified or instructor credentials are assets.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, preferably 29 CFR 1926.
  • Proven ability to communicate persuasively across project levels.
  • Ability to pass pre-access requirements including clean driving record and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Hazard assessments, inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions.
  • Provide on-site HS&E guidance to operations on programs and safety systems.
  • Analyze safety data and report findings to recommend improvements.
  • Lead complex incident investigations and train operations teams on processes.
  • Support supervision in managing injuries/illnesses and return-to-work processes.

Description

With more than seven decades of experience, Ledcor’s heavy civil team has been one of the key building blocks of our organization. From clearing and grubbing, excavation and trenching, grading and soil compaction, pouring and finishing concrete, and installing culverts and telecom lines, Ledcor’s service offering is as vast as the projects we work on.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Hazard Assessments, Inspections, and Audits: You develop and conduct hazard assessments to identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, and perform focus audits of HS&E plan requirements, reporting findings and verifying corrective actions
  • HS&E Process Guidance: You provide on-site guidance to operations management on implementing company HS&E programs and address issues related to emergency response, performance metrics, and safety systems
  • Data Collection and Reporting: You assess the effectiveness of corrective actions from incidents, inspections, and audits, and analyze safety data to recommend improvements
  • Incident Management: You lead complex incident investigations, identify root causes, and train operations teams on investigation processes and best practices
  • Occupational Injury/Illness Management: You support supervisors in managing occupational injuries and illnesses, including monitoring return-to-work processes and implementing preventive safety measures
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of practical experience in the construction, heavy civil or the telecom industry as an HS&E professional
  • OSHA 10 and 30-hour instructor (authorized trainer) and formal Occupational Health and Safety education are assets
  • In-depth understanding of OSHA regulations, preferably the 29 CFR 1926
  • Demonstrated intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to communicate persuasively and influence stakeholders across all levels of project hierarchy, fostering cooperation and compliance with HS&E standards
  • Ability to pass all pre-access requirements including clean driver's abstract and drug screen and breathalyzer
Work Conditions:
  • This position requires extensive travel during the week to various worksites in the United States by company vehicle and/or air travel and rental vehicles
  • You must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract and ability to meet TSA requirements (e.g. passport or Real ID)
  • Travel will be pre-paid, or you will be reimbursed through a verified expense report
