GeneralDuties

Performs a variety of administrative, facility maintenance, groundsmaintenance, equipment operations and janitorial tasks, including information collection andstatistical computation for the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Facility, Colorado's premier Law Enforcement training location. Duties also include data entry, filing, updatingrecords, basic bookkeeping, and operation of multiple office machines andinstruments. Duties may involve directcontact with the general public, as well as Sheriff's Office employees, other law enforcement officers,and public officials.


Examples of Duties:


  • Typescorrespondence, reports, records, memos, and forms.

  • Assembles and distributes a wide variety of reports to the HRLETF Foundation.

  • Operates a variety of lawn care, landscape, maintenance, and some heavy equipment.

  • Operates equipment including pickups, single axle and tandem axle trucks, water tankers, mowers, sweepers, loaders, backhoes, snowplows, sanders and other construction and maintenance equipment.

  • Performs snow removal and application of anti-icing and de-icing products.

  • Performs manual labor including, but not limited to, shoveling, raking, fence construction, and tree trimming.

  • Performs operator maintenance on assigned equipment and vehicles.

  • Performs daily inspection of equipment and vehicles used.

  • Maintaining compliance with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment with water treatment management.

  • Responsible for regulatory compliance with applicable standards and requirements.


Salary and Benefits

While the full salary range for the Statutory Programs Specialist is $52,197-$78,295 annually, generally the hiring range is $52,197-$65,246 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

Minimum Requirements


  • High school graduate or GED.

  • Three(3) years of operating equipment required.

  • Knowledgeof state and local safety compliance

  • Must possess a State of Colorado DriverLicense and complying insurance upon hire. Review of motor vehicle record isrequired at time of hire and periodically throughout employment.

  • Goodphysical and mental condition.

  • Abilityto deal with confidential information.

  • Entry-levelcomputer skills.

  • Abilityto remain calm and communicate effectively under adverse conditions.

  • Abilityto perform required duties in an intimidating environment with some potentialfor physical danger.

  • Abilityto deal with high job stress.

  • Abilityto think and react appropriately under emergency conditions with little or nosupervision.

  • Abilityto utilize Sheriff’s Office communication equipment daily.

  • Requiresexperience and awareness of surroundings at training facility including but notlimited to firearms training with live fire.

  • Abilityto adopt and project the desired philosophy and code of conduct of the DouglasCounty Sheriff’s Office.

  • Able to pass qualifying exams and background investigation.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Ability to work holidays and overtime outside normal hours during inclement weather or at other times needed by the HRLETF

In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
