Job summary

P&E Constructors in Port Washington, WI, is seeking an HR Technician – Field Project Support to serve as a liaison between field operations, recruiting, and HR on project sites. This field-based role supports onboarding activities, workforce documentation, employee support, and HR administrative functions in a fast-paced industrial construction environment.

Projects generally last 10 to 17 months and require five 10-hour shifts per week with overtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; higher degree preferred.
  • Experience in HR, recruiting, or workforce admin is beneficial.
  • Industrial construction or project-based workforce experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an HR and recruiting liaison for assigned project sites
  • Support onboarding activities for new hires and transfers
  • Assist with workforce documentation, employee records, and compliance tracking
  • Coordinate hiring logistics, orientation scheduling, and candidate communication
  • Support project leadership with HR-related administrative needs
  • Assist employees with basic HR, payroll, and onboarding questions
  • Maintain accurate workforce and employee data within company systems
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and project workforce tracking documents
  • Support unemployment documentation, audits, and employee file organization as needed
  • Communicate professionally with craft employees, supervisors, recruiters, and corporate teams
  • Assist with additional HR and project support duties as assigned

This position requires 100% travel and project-site presence based on business needs. Bilingual Spanish-speaking candidates are strongly preferred due to workforce communication needs.

Project assignments generally last 10 to 17 months, depending on project duration and operational requirements. This role requires five 10-hour shifts per week, with overtime required.

  • Equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience will be considered
  • Previous experience in HR, recruiting, workforce administration, construction support, or administrative coordination preferred
  • Industrial construction or project‑based workforce experience is a plus
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced project environments
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage confidential information professionally
  • Strong organizational and communication skills required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required
  • Experience with HRIS, onboarding systems, or workforce tracking systems preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

  • The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role

  • Work at elevated heights and comply with fall protection and safety requirements

  • Interpret technical drawings and visualize three-dimensional concepts when needed
  • Maintain sufficient vision, hearing, coordination, and awareness to safely perform job duties
  • Ability to work extended shifts, including up to 12 hours, in outdoor construction environments and varying weather conditions
  • Maintain physical stamina and strength to perform demanding job duties throughout the workday
