Job summary

Calgon Carbon, a Kuraray Company, is seeking an HR Systems & Benefits Specialist II to coordinate employee benefits, leaves, and compensation, and to provide HRIS support. The HR Systems & Benefits Specialist II will work as part of the human resources team, ensuring timely, accurate data flow to Payroll.

Location: Headquarters in Moon Township, PA with a hybrid schedule. The role offers excellent medical/dental/vision benefits, a 401(k) with generous match, tuition reimbursement, wellness

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) required.
  • 0-2 years supporting compensation activities (salary surveys, market analysis, reporting, merit processes, or job evaluation) required.
  • 3-5 years administering employee benefits programs (health, welfare, leaves, retirement/pension) required.
  • 3-5 years with HRIS systems (data administration, reporting, data integrity, analytics) required.
  • 3-5 years using Microsoft Excel for reporting and data reconciliation required.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or comparable HRIS/payroll system preferred.
  • Experience handling high volumes of confidential information preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team orientation; detail orientation; time management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate open enrollment information and assist new employees.
  • Assist employees with benefits issues; liaise with carriers and ADP to keep data updated.
  • Contribute to benefit plan design and offerings.
  • Serve as primary contact for defined benefit estimates and related projects.
  • Coordinate leaves (FMLA, disability, parental) with records and payroll.
  • Update payroll on disability status and ensure timely data flow.
  • Maintain benefits materials and participate in audits and annual notices.
  • Support compensation processes and market pricing; assist merit cycles.
  • Assist with HRIS reporting, data maintenance, and analytics; support Payroll liaison.

The HR Systems & Benefits Specialist II provides day-to-day coordination of activities related to employee benefits and leaves, compensation, and pay administration. The HR Systems & Benefits Specialist II will also provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of benefits and HRIS administration. The HR Systems & Benefits Specialist II will work as part of the human resources team, to ensure and provide exceptional and timely customer service to employees and outside customers, as well as take on additional HR duties as assigned. The HR Systems & Benefits Specialist II will act as HR liaison to Payroll to ensure timely data and documentation flow.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
  • Manage employee-facing piece of the open enrollment process and provide benefits information at new employee orientation
  • Aid employees with benefits-related issues; interact with benefits carriers to ensure proper data and status records are being updated (This includes healthcare vendors for bargaining and non-bargaining unit employees, ADP, COBRA, and Company's healthcare broker)
  • Strategic involvement with benefit plan design and benefit offerings
  • Serve as the primary contact for the calculation of Defined Benefit estimates and other Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution projects as needed
  • Track timing for commencement of terminated vested pension plan participants
  • Provide retirement election paperwork to active and terminated pension plan participants
  • Coordinate leave of absences including: FMLA, Short-Term Disability, Parental Leave and Long-Term Disability by maintaining records for leaves, ensure proper documentation is sent and received, assist managers with timecard editing, and reaching out to the Plant Administrator and employees when applicable
  • Updates Payroll on a timely basis as to disability claim status & ensures the timely flow of information for payroll processing
  • Handle life insurance claim administration
  • Develop, update, and maintain employee benefits materials for employees
  • Responsible for compliance activities, such as participating in pension and benefits audits, and sending out Annual Funding Notices
  • Administer employee wellness activities, including the coordination for annual flu clinics, biometric screenings, and other events as needed
  • Assist with salary surveys and market pricing
  • Assist with annual compensation processes
  • Support merit/increase processes
  • Conduct basic internal pay analysis
  • Assist with job documentation and job evaluation
  • Research market data under the direction of the compensation lead
  • Support compensation communications
  • Help with headcount and labor-cost reporting
  • Process all transfers, changes, terminations, and annual negotiated contract changes in HRIS (ADP Workforce Now) in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Process benefits enrollments and changes in HRIS and supports the HR team in areas of data maintenance, data integrity, reporting, and analytics
  • Acts as HR liaison with Payroll to provide data and system support within the HRIS and Payroll system and to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Coordinates status changes & documentation for terminations/pay/positions with Payroll on a weekly basis
  • As directed, produce, maintain and support accurate and timely reports or queries and correspondence using HRIS
  • Responsible for the completion of monthly headcount reports and other associated reports related to IT access for new hires and terminated employees
  • Assist and offer insight on system and process upgrades/improvement
  • Find more efficient ways to process employee actions
  • Responsible for maintenance of ADP homepage to ensure proper benefits information is available to employees
  • Responsible for monthly headcount reporting
  • Will be a point of contact to handle employee complaints and personnel problems
  • Will provide clarification on Company policies and procedures
  • Will participate in global benefits and HRIS projects
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is required
  • 0-2 years of experience supporting compensation activities, such as salary surveys, market analysis, compensation reporting, merit processes, or job evaluation is required
  • 3-5 years of experience administering employee benefit programs, including health and welfare benefits, leave programs, retirement/pension plans is required
  • 3-5 years of experience with HRIS systems, including employee data administration, reporting, data integrity, and analytics is required
  • 3-5 years of experience using Microsoft Excel for reporting, analysis, and data reconciliation is required
  • Experience supporting compensation activities, such as salary surveys, market analysis, compensation reporting, merit processes, or job evaluation is preferred
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable HRIS/payroll system is preferred
  • Experience working with high volumes of confidential information is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Team orientation with high degree of collaborative skills. Detail oriented and superior time management skills is preferred
