85C Bakery Cafe is seeking a Workers' Compensation Specialist to manage the full claims lifecycle, from initial injury intake through resolution and return to work. You will coordinate with employees, managers, carriers, and medical providers to ensure compliant, timely handling of claims and prevent recurrence.

The role emphasizes accuracy, collaboration, and proactive problem solving to support injured employees and minimize organizational risk.

Responsibilities

  • Manage workers' compensation claims from initial injury intake through closure.
  • Review incident documents, file claims, communicate with injured employees, managers, clinics, insurance carriers, and adjusters, and maintain accurate records.
  • Investigate workplace injuries, identify root causes, and work with Safety Manager to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain OSHA injury/illness records (OSHA 300, 300A, 301) and manage annual postings and reporting.
  • Coordinate return-to-work and reasonable accommodations with management.

Job description

The Workers' Compensation Specialist plays a vital role in protecting both employees and the organization by managing every aspect of the workers' compensation process with professionalism, compassion, and compliance. From the initial injury report through claim resolution and return to work, this position serves as a trusted partner to employees, managers, insurance carriers, third‑party administrators, medical providers, and legal counsel.

In this role, you will ensure workplace injury claims are handled accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations. You will coordinate modified duty and return‑to‑work programs, monitor claim activity and costs, maintain accurate documentation, and provide expert guidance on workers' compensation policies and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Manage workers' compensation claims from initial injury intake through closure.
  • Review incident documents, file claims, communicate with injured employees, managers, clinics, insurance carriers, and claims adjusters, and maintain accurate claim and work‑status records.
  • Investigate workplace injuries and incidents, identify root causes, review available documentation or video, and work with the Safety Manager and operations leaders to implement and track corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain OSHA injury and illness records, including OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 documentation; coordinate annual postings and electronic reporting; and track required safety and compliance training.
  • Coordinate return‑to‑work and reasonable accommodation processes by collecting documentation, communicating work restrictions, and partnering with management to evaluate available accommodations.

Physical Demands

This position requires general office work with light physical duty, work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.
