Job summary

gategroup is seeking an HR Specialist for a 6-month temporary assignment in Newark, NJ. The role delivers new hire orientation, explains policies and benefits, assists with program design and enterprise-wide initiatives, and maintains HR records and reports.

Strong knowledge of employment law and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for success in a busy kitchen/operations setting. The position requires 2 years of college or equivalent, 2–4 years HR experience, and experience in

  • 2 years college or equivalent is preferred
  • Prior work experience with at least 2-4 years of experience in a human resources related role
  • Experience in airline, transportation, hospitality, manufacturing or food service environment highly desirable
  • Must have proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and related database applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal employment law
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple HR programs and reports
  • Experience investigating and responding to Title VII charges

Responsibilities

  • Delivers new hire orientation and other training programs as needed.
  • Understands and explains company policies, programs, benefits and related information.
  • Assists with unit-specific program design, development and implementation; and assists with implementation of any enterprise-wide programs, as needed.
  • Maintain employee personnel files, bulletin boards, recruiting tracker, exit interview tracker, and attendance system.
  • Ensures that weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reports are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Accomplishes human resources and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Target Pay Range: $25.00 to $28.00 per hour

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Delivers new hire orientation and other training programs as needed.
  • Understands and explains company policies, programs, benefits and related information.

Qualifications
Education:
