Job summary

DLA Piper is seeking an HR Services Coordinator to provide premier HR support to partners, employees, retirees, and former employees. You will handle inquiries, guide transactions in Workday, and support HR operations with a focus on an exceptional employee experience.

The role requires strong communication, discretion, and the ability to collaborate across HR functions. A hybrid work arrangement is possible across multiple U.S. offices, with standard business hours.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years’ experience with benefits administration and HR policy administration.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Workday and ServiceNow experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries and ensure an excellent employee experience.
  • Assist managers and employees in navigating Workday and executing HR transactions.
  • Support day-to-day HR operations including HR Operations, Total Rewards, and Employee Relations.
  • Collaborate with Centers of Excellence to meet deliverables within SLAs.
  • Research and resolve HR cases using the ServiceNow system and document resolutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of benefits plans (health insurance, 401(k), vacation, holidays).
  • Adhere to SOPs to ensure data integrity in HR systems and consistent employment experiences.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, knowledgebase articles, and FAQs.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the scope of HR support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary

The HR Services Coordinator, working in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, serves as the primary contact to all partners, employees, former employees and retirees on payroll, benefits, other HR transactions, and policy related questions. Handles inquiries and problems in order to provide an exceptional employee experience and provide clear advice and information. Knowledge base and case management tools will be utilized to assist in responding to HR inquiries.

Location

This position can sit in our Phoenix, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, or Seattle office and offers a hybrid work schedule with hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Human Resources and ensure that the lawyer and business professional AskHR experience meets our standards of operational excellence.
  • Assist managers and employees in navigating Workday and executing business process transactions.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of various HR functions, including HR Operations, Total Rewards, and Employee Relations.
  • Partner with colleagues and Centers of Excellence to execute tasks and fulfill key deliverables within assigned SLAs.
  • Research and resolve HR cases using the ServiceNow case management system, documenting case details and resolution.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company benefit plans such as health insurance, 401(k), vacation, holidays, time tracking and pay to respond to AskHR inquiries.
  • Adhere to departmental standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure the integrity of data within HR systems, and a consistent employment experience.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, knowledgebase articles, and FAQs for all areas of accountability.
  • Maintain employee personnel records and other HR records, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement initiatives within the assigned scope of work, proposing solutions and ideas to enhance HR support for employees and people leaders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills

Able to communicate comfortably and provide clear explanations to all levels of people and use discretion when communicating sensitive information. Preference of 2+ years’ experience with benefits administration and HR policy administration. Express interest and curiosity in understanding why something is done a certain way, ask appropriate questions and identify relevant resources for answers, know when to elevate a matter. Identify ways to improve operational efficiency and meet deadlines. Strong customer service focus centered on building an exceptional employee experience including responding quickly to requests, acknowledging receipt of requests when unable to provide a resolution within the allotted timeframe. Able to work as part of a high-performance team and perform with minimal supervision. Invest in continuous self-improvement, volunteer for new assignments, take ownership of work, and produce quality work products. Ability to learn quickly. Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel); Preference of 2+ years’ experience Workday and ServiceNow or similar system experience.

Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
Minimum Years Of Experience
  • 2 years’ experience in an HR administrative support role.

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: This is primarily sedentary work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The role involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking and standing, and occasional travel, both domestic and international.

Work Environment

The individual selected for this position may have the opportunity for a hybrid work arrangement combining remote and in-office work. The specific arrangement will be determined at the time of hiring and may be modified at the firm's discretion.

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00 per hour depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. Non-exempt positions will be paid on an hourly basis and paid overtime in accordance with applicable laws.

The compensation offered for employment will also be dependent on other factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
