Job summary

The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County seeks a collaborative HR Manager to lead HR functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations. The role partners with leadership to implement HR programs, safety initiatives, and training, while managing HR systems in Rippling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
• HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) or the ability to obtain certification within a year.
• 3–5 years of experience managing an organization's HR function.
• Working knowledge of California and federal employment laws and HR best practices.
• Experience advising employees and supervisors on sensitive employee relations and performance management matters.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HR administration, compliance, and day-to-day HR functions.
• Maintain and update employee policies, procedures, and handbook.
• Advise employees and supervisors on HR policies and workplace expectations.
• Oversee workplace safety program and incident reporting.
• Manage workers’ compensation administration and coordination with carrier.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, and benefits administration.
• Support compensation planning and salary administration.
• Maintain HR data and reporting in Rippling.
