Job summary

Soni Resources Group is partnering with a startup in the restaurant industry to hire an HR Manager in New York, NY. This broad HR role covers payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, onboarding and HR compliance, and it will serve as a trusted resource to leadership and staff.

You will help build scalable HR processes as the company grows, taking a hands-on, solutions‑oriented approach and partnering with managers on performance, coaching, and workplace concerns.

Qualifications

• 4+ yrs progressive HR experience.
• Experience in hospitality, food service, retail, or other high-volume environment.
• Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage payroll, timekeeping, and employee records, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
• Administer employee benefits, including enrollment, changes, and employee support.
• Manage recruitment and hiring for hourly, supervisory, and administrative roles.
• Own the onboarding and offboarding process.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations, performance issues, attendance, and workplace concerns.
• Partner with managers on employee performance, coaching, and disciplinary matters.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, New York State, and NYC employment laws.
• Maintain HR policies, employee files, and required documentation.
• Partner with the Director of Kitchen Operations on staffing, workforce planning, and day‑to‑day people issues.
• Track key HR metrics, including headcount, turnover, hiring, and attendance.
• Support employee engagement, retention, and development initiatives.

Compensation

Compensation: $95,000-110,000

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
