Job summary

Civil West, part of the PCL Family, is seeking a Human Resources Student in Long Beach, CA for a summer internship from May to August. You will partner with employees, managers, and HR professionals to support talent initiatives that help build high-performing teams across the district.

In this role, you will assist with onboarding, event planning, training prep, and HR databases while developing strong relationships and gaining exposure to HRIS systems and company communications.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in human resources, engineering, construction management, or a related discipline preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic networking skills with the ability to develop and maintain HR networks.
• Results-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of change management methodologies is an asset.
• Must be authorized to work in the US.
• 18+ with valid Driver’s License.
• Available to work in Orlando, FL, full-time May–August.
• Employment contingent upon passing a substance abuse test.

Responsibilities

• Assists with research and general administrative support.
• Assists with onboarding, event planning, and training preparation.
• Assists with updating and maintaining accurate databases.
• Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships.
• Supports the solution provider and profitability culture.
• Provides administrative support for employee questions, processes, and systems.
• Maintains and prepares scheduled and ad hoc reporting.
• Supports employees and HRIS team via company communications.
• Other duties as required.
