Job summary

Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) seeks a Human Resources Generalist to support HR programs across the organization, partnering with leaders and employees to deliver a positive experience aligned with our mission.

You will administer compensation, benefits, leave, onboarding, compliance, and HR data in our HRIS, while coaching on policies and best practices. This role offers hybrid work, wellness resources, and a comprehensive benefits package to support work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum three years of progressive Human Resources experience.
• Experience administering employee benefits, compensation, and leave programs.
• Experience with HRIS; Paycor or similar HRIS preferred.
• HR Certification (SHRM, HRCI) preferred.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Knowledge of FMLA and health and related insurance programs.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary HR resource for employees and leaders, handling inquiries.
• Develop and deliver HR programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
• Maintain the employee handbook and communicate policy changes.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices.
• Maintain HRIS data integrity and support payroll coordination.
• Oversee onboarding, background checks and new hire documentation.
• Prepare and distribute standard and ad-hoc HR reports.
• Provide policy interpretation and coaching on HR procedures.
• Organize employee events and wellness initiatives.
