Job summary

Job Details

Under the general supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Generalist provides day‑to‑day support to multiple hospital departments, upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and supporting the mission, vision, and values of Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District. The role requires broad knowledge of healthcare human resources and the ability to interact with a diverse workforce.

Essential Functions
  • Provides support to district departments to uphold the overall Human Resources Function.
  • Resolves HR‑related issues and concerns impacting the work environment and coordinates short‑ and full‑day orientation for all new hires.
  • Coordinates the hiring and onboarding process for all new hires.
  • Assists in scheduling pre‑placement activities such as lab work, physicals, background checks, fit testing, and badge issuance.
  • Assists the Chief Human Resources Officer in developing Human Resources policies for the district.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Maintains in‑depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day‑to‑day employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Prepares, organizes, and inputs payroll and employee status changes into HRIS for transfers, terminations, and promotions, including filing.
  • Completes and submits salary survey data for salary survey reports.
  • Completes and submits EEOC reports biennially.
  • Creates and assigns provisional period performance appraisals and competencies to department managers in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of all employment files and records related to promotions, transfers, and terminations.
  • Provides support to employees on HR topics such as leaves and compensation and assists in resolving arising issues.
  • Promotes HR programs to create an efficient and conflict‑free workplace.
  • Gathers and analyzes data with useful HR metrics, such as time to hire and employee turnover rates.
  • Enhances employee job satisfaction by responding to and resolving issues promptly.
  • Administers staff exit interviews.
  • Coaches and advises managers and employees on key HR policies addressing complex and sensitive matters.
  • Assists in administering and planning organizational training & development.
Other Responsibilities
  • Attends HR meetings.
  • Acts as a backup for the Recruiter and Benefits Coordinator.
  • May represent HR at staff or safety meetings.
  • May represent HR on various committees.
  • May perform the Director of Human Resources duties if the Director is absent or on leave.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Experience Required

Associate’s degree in Business or a related field and either 3 years’ experience in Human Resources or 5 years of Human Resources generalist experience.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply appropriate laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with all levels within the district.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
Licenses And Certifications Required

Professional in Human Resources certification preferred. Must have previous HR experience.
