Job description

Our client is a growing U.S.-based company with business operations spanning consumer products, brand distribution, retail, and logistics. The company is currently expanding its presence in the U.S. market, with a diversified business model that combines corporate functions, distribution operations, and customer-facing retail activities. Its U.S. organization currently has approximately 80 employees across multiple states, supporting a mix of corporate, warehouse, and retail operations. As the business continues to grow, the company is looking to strengthen its U.S. organizational structure and establish a more scalable HR infrastructure.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Director to take ownership of its U.S. HR function and build a scalable HR infrastructure to support the company's continued growth.

Reporting directly to business leadership, this is a hands-on HR leadership role with broad ownership across multiple states and employee populations. The HR Director will be responsible not only for recruiting, but also for establishing and strengthening the company's overall U.S. HR framework, including HR operations, employee relations, compensation and benefits, policies, compliance, and workforce planning.

The ideal candidate has experience building or significantly developing an HR function from the ground up and is comfortable operating in a growing organization where processes and structures are still being established.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee HR operations across the company's U.S. locations and multi-state workforce.
  • Build, implement, and continuously improve scalable HR policies, processes, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Partner directly with business leadership and department heads to understand organizational and workforce needs.
  • Lead talent acquisition and establish effective recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Manage employee relations and provide guidance to managers on performance management and other people-related matters.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, payroll-related HR processes, and general HR administration.
  • Develop and maintain employee policies, handbooks, and HR procedures in accordance with applicable federal and state employment requirements.
  • Support HR compliance across multiple states and locations.
  • Provide HR leadership across a diverse employee population, including corporate, warehouse, and retail teams.
  • Support organizational planning and help develop the company's long-term people strategy as the U.S. business continues to scale.
Qualifications
  • Extensive U.S. HR experience, ideally with experience at the HR Director, Head of HR, or senior HR management level.
  • Demonstrated experience building or significantly developing an HR function from 0 to 1.
  • Strong experience supporting a multi-state workforce.
  • Broad HR expertise across talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation & benefits, HR operations, policies, and employment compliance.
  • Experience partnering directly with senior leadership and independently driving HR initiatives.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where HR processes and organizational structures are continuing to evolve.
  • Experience supporting both corporate and frontline/hourly employee populations is highly relevant.
  • Experience in retail, distribution, logistics, consumer products, e-commerce, or other operations-heavy environments is a plus, but not required.
