Job description

This is coverage for the summer for our existing Casual HR Coordinator who will be out on leave. Anticipated end date of early September 2025.We are seeking a HR Coordinator-Casua l (Remote Casual Hourly) to assist with the coordination of all aspects of student hiring, as well as general HR administrative support for the Human Resources office. The ideal candidate will have strong detail orientation and client-centric approach, and willingness to learn and be part of a small team of HR professionals. This position will be expected to work between 15-20 hours per week. It is not a full-time role and is not benefits eligible.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Coordination of Student & Casual Hiring (95%)

  • Liaise with faculty and students to ascertain hiring needs.
  • Independently coordinate full lifecycle of student employment process, including I-9 and E-Verify.
  • Guide students through SSN application process.
  • Submit HR transactions to include hiring, employee changes, and terminations.
  • Regularly audit HRIS records for student status, end-of-semester terminations and conversions.
  • Maintain prompt and accurate data collection for student hires.

Administrative (5%)

  • Assist with scheduling HR-related events, including logistics, room reservations, catering, etc. Book room reservations for department events through 25Live.
  • Responsibility for HR Department email inbox and calendar.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels, including faculty, senior staff and students.
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills.
  • Familiar with HRIS databases and reporting. Experience with SAP HR or payroll processing highly preferred.

  • Intellectual curiosity and learning agility.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with international students highly preferred.
