Job description

Overview

The Department of Human Resources (DHR) is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team! This position will assist with providing HR services and support to multiple departments in the Agency of Administration including, Buildings & General Services, Taxes, Finance & Management, Libraries, several smaller departments, and the Agency of Digital Services.




The HRBP is responsible for:



  • Assisting supervisors with various HR functions, including hiring candidates by processing them through state systems.

  • Providing information and orientation to new employees and supervisors.

  • Managing and tracking workers' compensation claims

  • Reviewing timesheets and creating modified duty assignments.

  • Reviewing and tracking performance evaluations for compliance.

  • Providing information and guidance to employees and supervisors on employee relations and performance management consistent with Personnel Policies, Procedures, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

  • Performing considerable systems work and data management in the VTHR system.




The ideal candidate will have the ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and adapt to changing demands in a fast-paced environment, in addition to possessing strong organizational skills required to coordinate and process a large volume of work and operational functions. Working both independently and as part of a team to deliver accurate and timely work and having an aptitude and interest to learn are all key to success in this position. Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.




The majority of the work is completed using various systems, databases and Microsoft Office 365 applications and the remainder of the work involves working with employees and supervisors utilizing various communication methods, collaborating with colleagues, and/or attending meetings. Some work outside of regular schedule may be required.



The Department is currently supporting a hybrid telework environment. Requests to telework will be considered, with some in person work at our Montpelier office required.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting, but some travel may be required for which private means of transportation should be available. Some work outside of regular work schedule may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered.


Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year or more of experience in the field of human resources that includes experience with employee relations or labor relations.


Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
