Who We Are Looking For:

An HR Business Partner who will serve as a strategic HR partner to support the Philadelphia Zoo’s mission by driving employee engagement, talent development, and organizational effectiveness.

What You Will Do:

Labor and Employee Relations:

  • Provide support to managers and employees by addressing employee concerns and assisting in resolving workplace issues.
  • Offer guidance on HR policies, procedures, and the Zoo’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Local 752, District Council 47 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
  • Support a positive work environment through consistent and fair employee relations practices.

Grievance and Discipline Support:

  • Help track and respond to grievances in collaboration with HR leadership, ensuring alignment with CBA.
  • Provide support and coaching to managers on routine disciplinary actions and documentation.

Union Relations:

  • Act as a point of contact for union representatives on day-to-day inquiries.
  • Assist with contract interpretation and support compliance with the CBA.
  • Provide administrative and data-gathering support for bargaining preparation and labor relations planning.

Policy and Compliance:

  • Support the implementation and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring department compliance with labor regulations and HR standards.

Performance Management:

  • Use HRIS systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now) to support reporting, data tracking, and workflows.
  • Run basic reports and assist with data integrity and recordkeeping tasks.

Training and Development:

  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions and assist with required compliance training (e.g., harassment prevention).
  • Identify employee development needs and work with leadership to recommend solutions.

HR Operations & Business Support:

  • Serve as an HR point of contact for designated departments, supporting approximately 150–200 employees.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters and HR procedures.
  • Participate in organizational initiatives and change efforts as needed.

What This Role Requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience, including exposure to employee/labor relations and performance management.
  • Familiarity with labor laws, CBAs, and HR compliance basics.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with employees and managers.
  • HRIS experience (ADP Workforce Now preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
