Job summary

Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing in Van Buren, Indiana, is seeking an HR and Development Specialist to support day-to-day plant staffing, onboarding, and workforce development while partnering with plant leaders to improve retention and growth.

This onsite role requires coordinating leave, attendance, HR records, and cross-functional projects, with flexibility to support multiple shifts and time on the plant floor to actively engage with team members and leaders alike.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience.
• At least three years in recruiting, HR, or learning and development.
• Experience coordinating cross-department projects.
• Knowledge of leave administration, attendance, and HR records.
• Strong communication, organization, and judgment.

Responsibilities

• Manage recruiting for assigned plant roles, including sourcing, interviews, candidate communication, offers, and hiring requirements.
• Coordinate onboarding from accepted offer through orientation and the handoff to department training.
• Lead new hire check-ins and address barriers during the first 90 days.
• Lead retention projects and review workforce trends with plant leaders.
• Partner with Operations and Continuous Skills Development on learning paths and training schedules.
• Coordinate leave and attendance processes, unemployment claims, HR records, and other HR tasks.
• Provide confidential HR support to team members and leaders across the plant.

Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing is looking for an HR and Development Specialist who enjoys working with people and being part of the day-to-day life of a manufacturing plant. In this role, you'll help us hire and welcome new team members, support their development, and work with plant leaders to improve the experiences that help people stay and grow at Weaver.

What you'll do

• Manage recruiting for assigned plant roles, including sourcing, interviews, candidate communication, offers, and hiring requirements.
• Coordinate onboarding from accepted offer through orientation and the handoff to department training.
• Lead new hire check-ins and work with leaders to address barriers during a team member's first 90 days.
• Lead retention projects, gather team member feedback, review workforce trends, and follow through on improvement plans with plant leaders.
• Partner with Operations and Continuous Skills Development on learning paths, training schedules, qualification requirements, and progress toward proficiency.
• Coordinate leave and attendance processes, unemployment claims, HR records, and other assigned People Department work.
• Provide approachable, confidential HR support to team members and leaders across the plant.

What you'll bring

• A bachelor's degree in HR, business, organizational development, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least three years of experience in recruiting, HR, workforce development, learning and development, or a related field.
• Experience coordinating projects or programs with people from different departments.
• Working knowledge of leave administration, attendance, unemployment, and HR recordkeeping.
• Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and sound judgment.

Experience supporting an hourly workforce in manufacturing, distribution, or food production is a plus.

This is an onsite role that works in both office and production areas. You'll need to be comfortable spending time on the plant floor and occasionally adjusting your schedule to support team members on different shifts.
