Job summary

Brookfield Residential US Holdings LLC is seeking an HR Advisor to partner with regional leaders and drive talent strategies across the business. You will manage day-to-day HR activities, including recruitment, performance management, development, compensation and succession planning.

This role emphasizes local policy interpretation, collaboration with People Leaders, and contributing to company-wide HR frameworks with an expert regional perspective.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR/Business experience in talent development, recruitment, performance management and compensation.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline.
  • Solid working knowledge of employment regulations and legislation.
  • Ability to build relationships virtually and in-person.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with managers to manage performance management and employee relations.
  • Guide performance reviews and other HR development processes.
  • Travel to local field sites to build strong collaborations.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment activities including sourcing, interviewing and onboarding.
  • Support compensation processes and ensure equitable pay within market.

Job Description Overview

Reporting to the VP, HR, the HR Advisor partners with regional People Leaders to drive business results through the implementation of talent strategies and solutions. This role will provide tactical management of all day-to-day talent focus areas, including recruitment, performance management, development, compensation and succession planning. They provide input on both interpreting company-wide policies and local guidelines and contribute to the development of our company-wide framework with an expert regional perspective.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate and coach managers and team members to effectively manage performance management and employee relations issues.
  • Advise with Performance Reviews and other HR development processes.
  • Travel to local field sites regularly to establish strong collaborative connections and enhance business savvy.
  • Enable leaders to successfully recruit for, interview and select top talent.
  • Work with the business leaders to execute full cycle recruitment activities, providing expertise on sourcing, interviewing, employment and background checks, testing, offers, and onboarding.
  • Monitor recruitment process to ensure optimal hiring decisions are made, including use of candidate discussion/scoring matrix and facilitate decision making discussion with hiring teams.
  • Support the annual compensation process; enabling leaders to use company framework when applying total rewards.
  • Ensure job profiles are accurately leveled and matched in order to achieve equitable and competitive market pay.
  • Coach leaders on BPD's pay- for- performance philosophy.
  • Positively influence the associates' experience by partnering with People Leaders to ensure moments of importance and value are recognized.
  • Continuously enhance and improve the team member experience through effective management of workplace conflicts.
  • Provide local support on the coordination and delivery of any team member, leadership, or management development training programs.
  • May coordinate and deliver specialized training in such areas as: candidate sourcing, managing employee effectiveness, team building and mentoring.
  • Support with the development, design, organization, and implementation of programs that will drive increased employee satisfaction and commitment levels (i.e., Employee Recognition Program, Onboarding, New Team Member Orientation, Manager Orientation).
  • Assist with facilitating and delivering employee and leadership training programs.
  • Coordinate regularly with other facilitators and internal experts. These experts specialize in recruitment, performance management, respect in the workplace, and team building.
  • Consult with Payroll on a timely basis to ensure processes and systems are accurate and effective, while creating and maintaining reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to continuously create and improve procedures and processes for People operations optimization.
  • Update and maintain People information in HRIS system and on Brookfield Residential intranet.
  • Participate on select cross functional or company-wide committee(s).
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of progressive HR/Business experience demonstrating knowledge of talent development, recruitment strategy, performance management, and compensation.
  • Undergraduate degree in business or related discipline.
  • Solid working knowledge of related employment regulations and legislation.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with primary client groups virtually and in-person.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Strong business acumen with a customer service mindset and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated project management, organizational and exceptional time management skills.
