Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking an HPC Technical Consultant for onsite work in Memphis, Tennessee. The role involves repairing and maintaining HPC compute, network, and storage hardware, reviewing tickets, and documenting actions. You will collaborate with teammates using in-person, phone, and digital channels.

US citizenship is required. Standard hours are 9am–5pm, with Salary range listed; onsite duties include lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional installations.

Qualifications

• HS graduate with basic mechanical aptitude.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools.
• Experience with computer hardware and data centers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site repair and maintenance on HPC compute, network, and storage hardware.
• Review tickets for hardware actions needed and take appropriate actions.
• Interact with ticket system to document actions and pass tickets to the next step.
• Complete training on specialized compute hardware, network, and storage components.
• Read system documentation and diagrams to identify specified components.
• Collaborate with team members via face-to-face, phone, and online communication.
• Perform hardware actions, e.g. component replacement from spares.
• Operate hand tools and low-power tools (e.g. battery power screwdriver).
• Lift and move parts up to 50 lbs; up to 75 lbs with assistance.
• Occasionally assist with system installation activities.

Job Description:

US Citizenship required

Work Location: Memphis, TN

On-Site daily from 9am to 5pm or as required. Standard business hours.

• Perform on-site repair and maintenance activities on HPC compute, network, and storage hardware
• Review tickets for hardware actions needed and claim for action
• Interact with ticket system to document actions taken and pass ticket to next step
• Complete training on specialized compute hardware, network, and storage components
• Read system documentation and diagrams to identify specified components within system
• Collaborate with team members using face-to-face, phone, and online communication including email, Teams, and Slack
• Perform hardware actions, e.g. component replacement from spares
• Operate hand tools and low-power tools (e.g. battery power screwdriver)
• Select proper tools and maintain tools in organized way on site
• Lift and move parts and equipment up to 50 lbs individually and up to 75 lbs with another person
• Occasionally operate pallet jack to move inventory from one place to another within site (for equipment with no operator's license required)
• Occasionally assist with system installation activities
• Interface with parts inventory manager if applicable
• Experience with Motivair and Vertiv CDU.

Prerequisite work experience:

• HS graduate
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Familiarity with hand tools
• Experience with computer hardware and datacenters preferred
