Job summary

Michigan State University College of Engineering is seeking a systems engineer to design, deploy, operate, and support Linux-based HPC systems across the campus and state. The role supports researchers with a 1000+ node cluster, 50,000 cores, 400 GPUs and 9 PB of storage.

The successful candidate will manage complex university-wide projects, advise users, participate in regional cyber infrastructure communities, and join an on-site hybrid team with weekly East Lansing meetings and on-call data

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in CS/IS/IT with IT specialization.
• 3–5 years progressive experience in IT-related duties.
• Experience with Linux, Windows, Slurm, MPI, and batch processing.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, Perl or Go.
• Experience with virtualization technologies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design, development, operation, and support of Linux-based HPC systems.
• Design and support development/ops processes for researchers and ICER needs.
• Manage complex university-wide projects and consult with users on resources.
• Engage with regional and national cyber infrastructure communities.
