Job summary

AHRC New York City is seeking a Preschool Occupational Therapist for Astoria Blue Feather ELC in Astoria, NY. This full-time position runs from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., 11 months per year, with a focus on supporting preschoolers with developmental needs within a classroom setting.

You will review assessment data, write IEPs and progress reports, and collaborate with classroom staff to maximize function and independence for children receiving therapy services.

Qualifications

• New York State Occupational Therapy license is required.
• Pediatric experience with preschoolers is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a classroom environment with children with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret assessment data and present needs and capabilities of attending students.
• Establish short- and long-term goals based on assessment data.
• Prepare IEPs, daily treatment plans, and progress reports as needed.
• Collaborate with classroom staff to create an environment that maximizes function.
• Provide therapy activities to develop, maintain, or improve function and compensate for dysfunction.

Role Description:

• Full Time | Monday-Friday
• Hours: 8:30 A.M-3:00 P.M
• 11 month calendar

Responsibilities include:

• Review and interpret assessment data and present attending students’ needs and capabilities.
• Establish relevant and attainable short term and long term goals which reflect assessment data.
• Prepare IEP, daily treatment plans and Progress Reports as needed.
• Work within the classroom setting and work with classroom staff to create an environment which maximizes function and compensates for dysfunction.
• Provide purposeful activities or methods, employed to develop, maintain, improve, restore and/or maximize function and compensate for dysfunction.
