Talance Group is seeking an experienced Regulatory Accounting Manager for an offshore upstream-focused organization. This onsite Houston role will oversee severance tax, royalty accounting, and escheat compliance, while leading a capable accounting team.

The ideal candidate has deep Texas regulatory knowledge, strong leadership, and a track record of improving controls and processes. CPA or Master’s is preferred but not required; relocation not indicated.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of accounting experience within upstream oil and gas.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Strong experience with Texas severance tax and royalty accounting.
• 2–5+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting and unclaimed property (escheat) requirements.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with a major ERP system.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• CPA or Master's degree preferred but not required.
• SAP experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead regulatory accounting activities, including severance tax and royalty accounting.
• Oversee regulatory filings, calculations, payments, and compliance requirements.
• Manage unclaimed property (escheat) reporting and compliance.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
• Ensure accuracy of regulatory reporting and maintain strong internal controls.
• Support internal and external audits related to regulatory accounting.
• Partner with Land, Operations, Finance, and other departments to resolve accounting issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and operational efficiency.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to accounting procedures.
