Job summary

Fernbrook Family Center is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) to provide community-based mental health services to children, adults, and families in supplemental housing and home and community settings.

Working under the supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), MHPs support clients in building skills that enhance daily functioning, independence, and overall well-being.

Qualifications

  • Must meet Minnesota Statute requirements for Mental Health Practitioner OR Clinical Trainee.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.
  • Ability to pass a DHS background check.
  • Preferred: experience working with children, adults, and families; bilingual/multilingual abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skills-based mental health services through individual, family, and group interventions.
  • Meet productivity benchmarks and weekly billable service expectations.
  • Use culturally responsive and evidence-informed approaches to support client needs.
  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Fernbrook staff and external service providers.
  • Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Complete 30 hours of mental health-related continuing education every two years.
  • Uphold Fernbrook’s mission, values, and policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Fernbrook Family Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) to provide community-based mental health services to children, adults, and families in supplemental housing and home and community settings. Working under the supervision of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP), MHPs support clients in building skills that enhance daily functioning, independence, and overall well-being. Services are delivered in a variety of settings, including client homes and community environments.

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Must meet Minnesota Statute requirements for:
    • Mental Health Practitioner OR

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to pass a DHS background check
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with children, adults, and families
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities
Work Environment & Schedule
  • Flexible schedule, typically between 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • Regular travel to client homes, community locations, and Fernbrook offices
  • Full-time and/or hourly opportunities available
    • Salaried: 40–43 hours/week
    • Hourly: up to 40 hours/week (overtime requires approval)
Physical Demands
  • Extended periods of sitting, observing, and computer use
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds
Supervision

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities but requires close collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
