Job summary

African American Planning Commission in New York, NY seeks a Housing Outreach Coordinator to identify and secure housing resources for residents. You will build relationships with brokers, landlords, and management offices to place clients into housing and accompany them to viewings.

The role requires strong communication, collaboration with city agencies, and experience with housing subsidies. Work involves workshops for residents and coordination with social services to meet placement targets.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with NYC Shelter System and related populations.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication with client services focus.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse residents, staff and partners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-the-ground outreach to identify housing resources.
• Develop linkages with brokers, landlords, and management offices for housing placements.
• Facilitate appointments and accompany residents to apartment viewings.
• Conduct housing inspections and complete pre-clearance forms.
• Assist clients with NYC Housing Connect and other portals.
• Meet residents regularly to review housing options and progress.
• Coordinate with DHS and HRA to expedite housing placements.
• Support program leadership to meet placement targets.
