Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to Lakewood residents about housing programs (Paint Lakewood Program, weatherization, grants).
  • Screen residents for program eligibility and manage intake and application process.
  • Coordinate day-to-day scheduling and communication between residents and contractors.
  • Assess scope of home repair projects to support planning and contractor communication.
  • Maintain accurate client records and project data for grant reporting.
  • Manage multiple resident projects and initiatives with timelines and documentation.
  • Represent LakewoodAlive at events and partner tabling opportunities.
  • Coordinate volunteer needs for housing-related projects and events.
  • Build relationships with residents, community organizations, and city departments.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Housing Outreach Coordinator (40 hours/week) serves as a primary point of contact between LakewoodAlive and Lakewood residents seeking housing assistance. This position conducts community outreach, screens residents for program eligibility, and supports the day-to-day coordination of housing programs, including home repair, weatherization, and other city-funded initiatives. The role works closely with the Executive Director, housing program staff, residents, contractors, and community partners to ensure residents receive timely, accurate support. This position is expected to maintain approximately 60% in-office and 40% field-based schedule, balancing administrative and program coordination responsibilities with direct community outreach, resident visits, site assessments, and other work conducted throughout the community.

SUMMARY OF POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Housing Outreach Coordinator (40 hours/week) serves as a primary point of contact between LakewoodAlive and Lakewood residents seeking housing assistance. This position conducts community outreach, screens residents for program eligibility, and supports the day-to-day coordination of housing programs, including home repair, weatherization, and other city-funded initiatives. The role works closely with the Executive Director, housing program staff, residents, contractors, and community partners to ensure residents receive timely, accurate support. This position is expected to maintain approximately 60% in-office and 40% field-based schedule, balancing administrative and program coordination responsibilities with direct community outreach, resident visits, site assessments, and other work conducted throughout the community.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Conduct outreach to Lakewood residents about available housing programs, including but not limited to the Paint Lakewood Program, home repair grants and loans, weatherization assistance, Aging in Place assessments, the Lakewood ToolBox and other city- and grant-funded initiatives
  • Screen residents for program eligibility and manage the intake and application process
  • Coordinate day-to-day scheduling and communication between residents and contractors when needed
  • Assess the general scope of home repair projects, drawing on working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and other craftsman-type systems, to support accurate project planning and contractor communication
  • Maintain accurate, detailed client records and project data within LakewoodAlive's case management system, including required documentation for grant reporting
  • Manage multiple resident projects and program initiatives simultaneously, keeping timelines and documentation on track
  • Represent LakewoodAlive at community events, resident meetings, and partner tabling opportunities to raise awareness of housing resources
  • Manage volunteer needs for housing-related projects and initiatives, including regular evening and weekend commitments for volunteer groups and organization events (scheduled in advance)
  • Build and maintain relationships with residents, community organizations, and city departments to support referrals and program awareness
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment and support cross-departmental collaboration
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications for the role
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred 1+ year of experience in community outreach, case management, housing services, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of general home repair, electrical, plumbing, and other craftsman-type trades
  • Flexibility to work a schedule that includes evenings and weekends to accommodate volunteer groups and organization events, with schedules known in advance
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Strong data entry and record-keeping skills are a must
  • Comfort working with sensitive resident information and maintaining confidentiality
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with a diverse group of residents, including those facing financial or housing hardship
  • High level of interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and client database systems
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to resident homes and community sites
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS
  • Annual salary range $43,000 - $45,000 based on experience, paid time off and comprehensive leave package, holidays including one week off at the end of December / Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) for medical expenses and premiums / 403B retirement account.
