Position Type: Housing Monitor/Safety Officer Temporary Position

Monitors the behavior and activities of clients participating in a Salvation Army emergency housing program; guards the security and safety of Salvation Army facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with shelter rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.

About this opportunity:

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitors the behavior and activities of clients participating in a Salvation Army emergency housing program.
  • Provides security for the building and grounds by being aware of activities happening in residential dorms.
  • Ensures all exterior and office doors are locked and secured after business hours.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required,
  • six months' experience working with the public with experience working in a security or social service environment preferred,

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light (less than 25 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting.

Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, and heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
