Maryland Legal Aid (MLA) seeks a dedicated paralegal to support eviction defense and housing-related cases from the Frederick, MD office. You will assist attorneys, attend court for same-day representation, and help with hearings on subsidies while engaging with tenants and communities.

The role emphasizes strong research, writing, and communication skills, with a focus on equity and social justice in Maryland’s housing justice movement. Hybrid work arrangement available.

Qualifications

• Experience in legal aid or nonprofit setting is a plus.
• Strong writing and research abilities are essential.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorneys in all aspects of representation in eviction cases and related hearings.
• Regularly attend court as part of MLA’s same-day representation program.
• Assist with administrative hearings regarding housing subsidies and client intake.
• Engage in community outreach and maintain case records in LegalServer.
