Job summary

Eliot Community Human Services in Lynn, MA is seeking a part-time Housing First Coordinator for our Low Threshold Housing Team. You will provide onsite case management, support residents, and coordinate services within a compassionate, recovery-focused framework.

• For candidates with lived experience with substance use disorder, 2 years sustained sobriety.
• High school diploma/GED with at least one year of paid or volunteer experience with adults with mental illness or substance abuse.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical help, mentoring, advocacy, coordination, side-by-side support, problem solving and direct assistance to help clients obtain daily living skills.
• Promote health and wellness by assisting clients with accessing medical care resources, HIV care, nutrition, and exercise.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team to guide residents through legal concerns.
• Intervene in potential crisis situations using trauma-informed, de-escalation techniques and escalate to leadership as needed.
• Educate clients around harm reduction principles and access to safe injection supply kits when requested.
• Engage in client-centered/harm-reduction/Housing First framework.
• Develop and implement safety response plans as needed.

Eliot's Homeless Services Division is seeking a dedicated part-time Housing First Coordinator to join our Low Threshold Housing Team which provides an array of onsite supportive services, including recovery coaching, MAT/Psychiatry, wrap-around case management & clinical coordination, medical consultation and direct interventions, and access to trauma-focused treatment modalities.

In this role you will provide onsite case management & support in a highly collaborative fashion with residents. Successful candidates will have unwavering compassion, as well as an open mind in terms of pathways to recovery/harm reduction with respect to substance use disorders. Working knowledge of area resources/providers, housing navigation, and tenancy preservation are a plus. Candidates with lived experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

• Promote concepts of health and wellness by assisting clients with accessing information and services related to medical care including HIV care resources, nutrition, and exercise as appropriate.
• Work within the multidisciplinary team to guide residents through legal concerns.
• Intervene in potential crisis situations, utilizing trauma informed, verbal de-escalation techniques - elevate concerns to leadership/on call personnel in real time as applicable.
• Educate and support clients around harm reduction principles and utilization, including access to safe injection supply kits when requested.
• Engage in client-centered/harm-reduction/Housing First framework.
• Develop and implement safety response plan as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in human services or related field required. For candidates with lived experience with substance use disorder who have 2 years sustained sobriety.
• High school diploma/GED and at least one year of paid or volunteer experience working with adults with mental illness and/or substance abuse.
• Must have a strong commitment to substance use recovery and housing first philosophy.
• Must have skills to establish supportive relationships with persons with mental illnesses/substance use and respect for their preferences for treatment.

Schedule:Sunday 7am-3pm, Monday 5pm-9pm, Thursday 5pm-9pm, Friday 3pm-9pm and Saturday 3pm-9pm (28 hours)

Compensation:

• BA $33,600.00
• MA $35,000.00
