The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking a Training & Exercise Specialist to bolster emergency preparedness across its EMSD. You will develop and deliver trainings, coordinate exercises, and create educational materials for staff and residents.

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the largest public housing authority in North America. NYCHA is home to approximately 3.6% of New York City’s population: it provides housing for more than 511,000 low-income New Yorkers through its public housing and Section 8 leased housing programs. NYCHA is comprised of 335 developments across the five boroughs of NYC, consisting of approximately 178,000 apartments. NYCHA’s Emergency Management and Services Department (EMSD) is charged with responding to all emergencies and hazards impacting essential services and day-to-day operations, to include large-scaled disasters. EMSD accomplishes this responsibility with a strategic network of public and private partners to ensure the protection of NYCHA’s infrastructure and the preparedness of its stakeholders, both internal and external. EMSD was formed in April of 2022 with the merging of NYCHA’s Office of Emergency Management and Emergency Services Department.
The Training & Exercise (T&E) Specialist will support the strategic goals of NYCHA’s EMSD by supporting preparedness programs through the development and delivery of emergency preparedness training, community outreach, and resilience programs for both NYCHA staff and residents. The position will work collaboratively with internal departments, resident leadership, and external partners to coordinate training activities, facilitate preparedness initiatives, support emergency exercises, and promote a culture of preparedness across the NYCHA. The T&E Specialist assists with evaluating program effectiveness, developing educational materials, and supporting emergency operations activities to enhance organizational readiness and community resilience.

HOUSING EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS - 07007
1, A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: emergency management, fire, police, or military service, public safety, public health, public administration, urban planning, engineering, or another specialized area to which the appointment is to be made; or
Appointments to this position are subject to a minimum probationary period of one year.
This position requires possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York at the time of appointment. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.
This position requires the completion of specialized trainings in IC S or CIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 before appointment.
