Job summary

The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is seeking a skilled Codes & Policy Manager to lead advocacy on state building codes, develop housing data, and support grassroots engagement across Washington. You will collaborate with builders, policymakers, and industry partners to advance housing solutions while driving research initiatives.

Reporting to the Vice President – Industry Partnerships & Research, this full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage and benefits, with a focus

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, urban planning, engineering, construction management, or related field
• 3–5 years of policy analysis, research, or advocacy experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools
• Excellent research and analytical problem-solving abilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in building industry and member advocacy

Responsibilities

• Lead SBCC code development advocacy and engage grassroots campaigns
• Develop housing data reports and research for policymakers
• Coordinate external affairs, public relations and legislative support
• Provide code updates to committees and assist members in interpreting codes
