Overview

Come work in the most scenic area in Illinois, Starved Rock Lodge, nestled in Starved Rock State Park, which hosts 2.5 million visitors every year. Join our team of associates working in our historic lodge, charming log cabins, retail gift stores, or award-winning restaurant among the trees, canyons, and waterfalls of the park. Whether you are looking for an entry-level hospitality position or want to enhance your professional skills, we are committed to providing amazing associate experiences.

HOUSEPERSON – responsible for the physical set-up and break down of all conference meetings and large events. This is not a serving position. The ideal candidate has a passion to work in the hospitality industry. Candidate must be in good physical condition as the position requires a large amount of heavy lifting. Open availability is a must.

Responsibilities
  • Setting up meeting rooms and private function areas with the appropriate equipment and materials, including, but not limited to, tables, chairs, glasses, water, pens, writing tablets and any other items requested.
  • Assemble and arrange banquet equipment by applying a common-sense understanding to carry out both written and oral detailed event requirements.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to all customer requests and involve a manager when necessary.
  • Disassemble conference rooms at appropriate break down times requiring bending and lifting up to 70 pounds; banquet tables onto 4-wheel carts and lifting banquet chairs in stacks of 6 to 10 feet in height.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift a variety of banquet tables and other equipment weighing up to 100 pounds; position risers weighing 150 pounds; move chairs of various weights and styles.
  • Walk and push large equipment carts.
  • Move 100-pound stacks of 10 chairs to a storage area 250 feet from the function room.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Inspect banquet equipment for defects, cleanliness, and any maintenance needed and report to the manager.
  • Must be able to work weekends and late nights as required by business.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with time-management skills.
  • Strong sense of teamwork.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to move a 60" round table.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and move for about the entire shift.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and late nights.
  • Food Handler Certification or Food Sanitation License for the state of Illinois (or willingness to obtain).
Hourly Rate

$15.00 + commission (eligibility may vary based on employment status)
