Summary: Cleans and services assigned areas according to standards of cleanliness set by management to ensure a clean, comfortable, safe, and attractive environment for guests. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cleaning floors (including carpets and tiles), high dusting, edging, and scrubbing hotel desks. Follows all operating procedures, safety regulations, sanitation practices involving bio-cleanup, and company policies.
Essential Functions:
- Regularly cleans items such as signs, ceiling vents, fans, walls, elevators, escalators, TVs, light fixtures, and windows at heights up to 25 feet using ladders or high lifts.
- Scrubs, polishes, disinfects, and wipes items including trashcans, concrete, carpet, furniture, and fixtures.
- Operates heavy commercial/industrial equipment to clean floors, decks, carpets, sidewalks, and parking areas.
- Uses chemicals, cleansers, and solvents with safety equipment, reading Material Safety Data Sheets in English.
- Assists with lifting and moving heavy items like furniture and boxes as needed.
- Maintains and handles equipment safely, reporting malfunctions or damages immediately.
- Prepares and fills chemical bottles and equipment as required.
- Cleans, stores, and maintains equipment following manufacturer instructions and training.
- Handles and disposes of biohazardous materials per OSHA training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of three to six months of related experience or training in public area cleaning, or equivalent education and experience.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Knowledge of carpet cleaning, high-speed buffers, power washing, and marble polishing.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and write simple instructions, memos, and correspondence.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Ability to work with cleaning products, chemicals, and solvents using safety equipment.
- Tolerance for a fast-paced environment with exposure to cigarette smoke and loud noises.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Use tools or equipment requiring dexterity.
- Communicate via radios and pagers.
- Walking, bending, and crouching more than 75% of the time.
- Maintain focus and attention to detail for extended periods.
- Exposure to elements like wind, rain, and sunlight.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 80 lbs.
- Ascend/descend ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
- Work on narrow, slippery, or moving surfaces.
- Distinguish shades of color, use of close and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
