Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the housekeeping department, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, guests, and team members. This role has primary responsibility for directing staff, managing departmental operations, and making personnel and operational decisions that impact service quality and efficiency.

Qualification Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 2+ years of housekeeping/environmental services experience, preferably in healthcare or senior living.
  • Demonstrated experience managing larger teams (5+ employees).
  • Knowledge of infection control, OSHA standards, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise, schedule, coach, and support housekeeping team members to ensure daily cleaning assignments are completed efficiently and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective action process for housekeeping team members in collaboration with the Director of Facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of resident apartments, common areas, and workspaces to ensure cleanliness, quality standards, infection prevention practices, and regulatory compliance are consistently maintained.
  • Coordinate daily staffing assignments, workflow, and supply distribution to support efficient operations and maintain appropriate service levels throughout the community.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order housekeeping supplies as directed, oversee proper use and storage of equipment and chemicals, and promote cost‑effective resource management.
  • Respond promptly to resident, family, and team member concerns regarding housekeeping services, providing service recovery and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support resident move‑ins and move‑outs, special events, emergency preparedness, and community‑wide operational needs.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including infection prevention, OSHA standards, HIPAA, and the Code of Conduct, completing required training and reporting concerns promptly.
  • This position is designated as essential to the operations of the organization. Team members in this role may be required to report into work (on‑site at the community) during emergencies, inclement weather, or other situations when the organization remains operational.

  • Frequently required to perform repetitive motions such as mopping, wiping, or vacuuming.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, twist, squat, and reach at, above, and below shoulder level.

  • Frequently required to push/pull housekeeping carts or equipment up to 85 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to kneel or climb stairs.
  • Visual and auditory acuity needed to identify cleaning needs, read labels, distinguish colors, and communicate in environments with background noise.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning tools safely.
