Job summary

Timber Ridge at Talus in Issaquah, WA, is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to lead the Environmental Services team and manage day-to-day operations. This role focuses on training, scheduling, and maintaining high cleanliness standards for a senior living environment.

The position requires previous supervisory experience in housekeeping within healthcare, retirement, or hotel settings, and a solid understanding of infection control practices. Hours are typically 8:00am–4:30pm, Mon–Fri.

Qualifications

  • High school education required. Special courses in housekeeping or institutional management are desirable.
  • Prior housekeeping supervisory experience in a retirement community, hotel or health care setting required.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping and infection control procedures required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the performance of all housekeepers by conducting floor rounds every day and random room inspections once a week.
  • Follow up on Resident concerns on the same day with a plan of resolution.
  • Submit any required work orders to the Maintenance department using the online system.
  • Conduct performance reviews on time for assigned Environmental Services employees.
  • Under the guidance of the Environmental Services Director, conduct disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Maintain required records, reports, and studies.
  • Coordinate annual apartment cleanings with the Environmental Services Director.
  • Conduct inventories of all housekeeping supplies and place monthly orders for all housekeeping supplies.
  • Coordinate the daily and holiday schedules for all apartment cleaning and special cleaning projects.

General Summary:

In conjunction with the Director of Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Services Department. The Housekeeping Supervisor is also responsible for training and supervising all housekeepers, ordering supplies, chemicals, and equipment, assisting with budget preparation, and operating within budgetary guidelines. The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for maintaining excellent relations with the residents and promoting good departmental morale. Please note that due to the critical nature of this position, no more than two weeks of vacation can be taken at a time. To supervise employees, the hours for this position are from 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday – Friday.

Other Duties:

  • Perform the duties of a Housekeeper or Laundry Worker as necessary due to staffing shortages.
  • Learn to operate the cleaning equipment and train new staff in their use as well as the usage and measurement of chemicals.
  • Assist in the recruiting of staff.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of department events.
  • Work with the Director to come up with new ways of incentivizing department staff to perform well and participate as team members.
  • Participate in the research, preparation and writing of the department budget.
  • Assist in operating the Department within budget guidelines.
  • Implement and monitor departmental compliance with all infection control policies and procedures.
  • If necessary, test and evaluate new products to improve efficiency.
  • Attend in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position may be required to work evenings and weekends. Must be able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day; must be able to lift to 30 lbs. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors. Must be able to see, hear and effectively communicate with residents and staff.
